Yep, yep, yep! You’re right! It takes longer. Plus, when my husband helps, I suggest how to load the dishwasher so all the dishes fit AND get cleaned. He rolls his eyes, “Like it really matters.” But it does!
Thanks for commenting! I’m in your camp of thought! Our company just left today after a two week visit, and I tried to shoo hubby and kids out so I could whip up the house. They came back in less than an hour. Hmmmm. That was barely even enough time to take out the trash! Ah, well. I’ll just chase my tail!
I’m a soloist, too! My husband tried to help today, but our dishwasher is finicky and I tried to coach him about its idiosyncrasies. He’s like, “Just let me do it. You’re being a control freak.” And I’m thinking, “Yes, but I’ll just have to wash them again if you don’t stack it a certain way! So back out, and let me do it!” Ended up, I just left the kitchen and moved on, laughing and grumbling about the situation at the same time. Thanks for piping up! It’s so fun to see how others like to do it!
Yeah. Nothing like trying to put the silverware away in the drawer that sits below the cup and plate cupboard, while somebody is putting away plates. Kind of like Twister, eh? How are you, Jackie!!!?
Like Jackie, I assign work to the kid who can handle it and the hubby and I split the other work. But if it’s like major cleaning with dust and all, I shoo the kids away so the allergies don’t get triggered. Sometimes I like music on, sometimes I like quiet. It depends on my mood 🙂
If I’m on a mission, no music. If I’m pretty much there, I like the music on. But if I can really get them out of the house, the silence is often music itself. Sorry about the allergies! Thanks for commenting! Hope all is well way over there!
Can I say both? Some days, I need to just get in there and clean. But other days, I start cleaning and realize that I am not actually cleaning up my stuff and then I want help. I also like help with things like the bird cage and the baseboards. I guess that I am lazy. LOL. I have them do the things that I don’t want to do even when I get in there and clean. I always end up leaving a few jobs behind.
“…realize that I am not actually cleaning up my stuff and then I want help.” That is true! Do they do a good job on the birdcage and baseboards? I’m not sure mine would, but maybe I am underestimating! Thanks for chiming in!
They do a good to fair job. As my husband always tells me-we may not do it your way, but it is done. 🙂 One thing that I am coming to terms with is that everything doesn’t have to be done my way. As I work through that, I am realizing that the kids do a good to fair job on things. I may go through once a month a do a thorough cleaning but at least it is not every week! They do surprise me many times and get things perfect!
My garage is NEVER cluttered, so I can’t really answer that part of your question. As for the kitchen, my wife prefers that I simply stay out of her way (and I am happy to comply with her wishes).
LOL! First I thought that was your sink!! I do it faster on my own but my boys and hubby do their fair share. I still need to moan a bit to get it done to my “super high standards”, as they call them.
Hi, there! Nah, not mine. Pshew! Hmmm–“super high” standards? Not just “high”? (For us, we often walk around the house together, and I bark out orders to the kids on what to do in each room. But this day, I wanted to just get it done fast so I could chill.)
I’ll send you three more. That’s a total of 6 extra hands! A real deal! Seriously, though, if I stay on them, they do great. But it requires a watchful eye…an evil eye…two evil eyes. Thanks for commenting! It has been fun to see the results of preference!
Because when they “help” it takes longer to stop, give direction, start again, I like them to just go away so I can turn up a cd and clean in peace 🙂

When the house is out of order I’d kick everyone out and clean it by myself. If it’s the yard, I’d put the hubby to work on it.

I think I prefer to tackle big messes solo. I find it too difficult to delegate and I get stressed out.

I want everyone to pick a room and tackle it. I don’t like joint effort on the same area.

Oh I’m alright! Quite worn out from my stepdaughter’s birthday weekend, but it was a fun time and I was able to really enjoy it. 🙂

watching the news and possible floods.its a cleaning nightmare if the waters come in 😀
Loved the grinnie face! I do hope the waters stay out for you and all!

Can I have your garage? (My husband told my daughter today that if you load the dishwasher wrong you don’t have to do so much work.)

Hmmmmm even though other people around when you need to get sorted can be annoying, I think I’ll still take the help!
